Chapter 821 - 3: Divine Artifact Chooses Its Master
Chapter 821 - 3: Divine Artifact Chooses Its Master
"An Ascetic, huh?"
Looking up at the Middle Eastern man on stage who was explaining the relationship between Hypnosis and psychology to the students, Li Hao smacked his lips speechlessly.
He had considered that the Magic Ring in Xu Hui’s hand might bring trouble, but he hadn’t expected that trouble to arrive this fast.
And what was up with that group of "professionals" outside?
Why did they investigate for so long, yet somehow let this most suspicious Middle Eastern man slip right past them?
That thought flashed through Li Hao’s mind.
The next second, he understood why Ruan An and the others had overlooked this most suspicious foreign professor.
Snap!
As soon as the Middle Eastern man finished his explanation of the relationship between Hypnosis and psychology on stage, he suddenly raised his hand and snapped his fingers.
"Students, I know the reason you’ve come to my class today is to witness the wonders of Hypnosis."
"By normal routine, I should call one student up here to cooperate with my Hypnosis for a demonstration."
"But that would be a bit too simple, and you wouldn’t be able to personally experience the magic of Hypnosis."
"So, how about we carry out a large-scale Hypnosis experiment next?"
"In other words, you’ll cooperate with me, fix your eyes on my swinging finger, and see whether I can hypnotize all of you at once."
Smiling, the Middle Eastern man said this and, unsurprisingly, was met with enthusiastic applause from the students.
By the time Li Hao sensed something was wrong, all the students present were already actively cooperating with the Middle Eastern man’s performance, and quickly fell into a hypnotic state.
Fortunately, Li Hao reacted quickly as well; the moment he realized something was off, he pretended to be hypnotized too.
"...?"
Very soon, only one person in the room remained unhypnotized—Xu Hui, who raised her head in bewilderment, staring at the smiling foreign professor on stage.
"Long time no see, Your Majesty the Saintess."
With a very gentlemanly bow to Xu Hui, the Middle Eastern man smiled without changing his expression.
"It’s you people?"
She snapped back from her surprise in an instant.
Xu Hui stared at the Middle Eastern man in sudden realization, then stood up warily.
"I don’t know you, and I’m not the Saintess you’re talking about..."
"There’s no point in chasing me like this. I really don’t know anything."
Facing Xu Hui’s wariness and rebuke, the Middle Eastern man merely smiled and let out a soft sigh without answering.
The next second, a figure shrouded entirely in a black robe walked in from the back of the multimedia classroom.
"Your very existence is meaning in itself."
Unlike the professor in front, the black-robed man who appeared afterward was clearly a typical member of the Martial Arts Sect.
Too lazy to waste words on Xu Hui, the black-robed man charged straight at her.
In the process, his true appearance was exposed before Xu Hui’s eyes.
He was a gaunt, weathered... "old man"?
His speed was so fast that Xu Hui had no time to react at all before the black-robed man seized her head in one hand.
Bang!
With a crisp impact, Xu Hui’s eyes rolled back and she passed out on the spot.
This was the black-robed man’s ability—a body as hard and unbreakable as steel.
Through years of grinding and tempering his own flesh, he had finally attained a Vajra Body.
Unafraid of hunger or cold, unafraid even of blades and axes...
If this were ancient times, the black-robed man could have become a renowned powerhouse in his region relying on this Vajra Body alone.
Unfortunately, he was born in the modern era.
As powerful as his Vajra Body was, it could not possibly withstand the baptism of artillery fire.
So in pursuit of even greater Power, the black-robed man joined the current Fanatic organization, chasing after the Divine Artifact left behind by Allah.
"So it’s this ring? The legendary Magic Ring?"
Hoisting Xu Hui high up with one hand, the black-robed man’s gaze fixed on the Ring on her finger.
However, when he reached out to remove the Magic Ring, the originally unconscious Xu Hui suddenly opened her eyes again.
Bang!
A shockwave exploded from her body.
Caught completely off guard, the black-robed man was blasted to the ground by the shockwave Xu Hui triggered.
"..."
Eyes rolled white, seemingly completely unconscious, Xu Hui merely turned her head by instinct—and that alone scared the professor at the podium into hastily ducking down.
To the professor’s surprise, though, Xu Hui wasn’t looking at him at all, but at Li Hao in the front row, who was pretending to be hypnotized.
Whoosh!
The next moment, Xu Hui’s levitating body suddenly appeared right in front of Li Hao.
Then, under the stunned gaze of the professor and the black-robed man, the Magic Ring actually slipped off Xu Hui’s finger of its own accord and slowly floated toward Li Hao.
"How is this possible?"
"The Divine Artifact is choosing its own master?"
"Don’t tell me the Saintess was just a medium?"
They stared in shock as the Magic Ring actively flew toward Li Hao.
Before the professor could finish speaking, the seemingly hypnotized teenager stood up on his own.
"I knew you’d be trouble..."
His tone held a hint of helplessness as Li Hao lifted his hand, not slipping the Magic Ring onto his finger.
Seeing this, the professor and the black-robed man looked even more shocked—and beneath that shock there seemed to be a faint trace of fear.
Because what was happening in front of them had already exceeded their understanding.
On instinct, they realized they might have gotten themselves wrapped up in some unknown crisis.
"Trying to drain my Spirituality to restore yourself?"
"Before doing something like that, don’t you think you ought to at least ask the person’s opinion?"
As if he were speaking to a True Immortal, Li Hao looked at the Magic Ring hovering right in front of him and asked.
"Also, you’ve already drained this girl of most of her Spirituality—doesn’t that count as licking the plate clean?"
"Judging from how much Spirituality she has left, even if she doesn’t end up a complete idiot in the future, she probably won’t be much better than one."
"I know that from a high-dimensional perspective, the fact that you didn’t outright devour her existence and turn her into ’residue’ already counts as considerable mercy."
"But this is the Fallen Area. The Spirituality you lose here can’t be replenished."
Whether it couldn’t understand or simply didn’t care, the Magic Ring hovering in midair continued stubbornly floating toward Li Hao’s finger.
Only then did the professor finally snap out of it; he was the first to draw the revolver at his waist, aiming at Li Hao and pulling the trigger without hesitation.
Bang!
In an instant, the deafening gunshot echoed throughout the hall.
Just as the hypnotized classmates were about to be jolted awake by the gunshot, a White Serpent with gorgeous wings quietly emerged from Li Hao’s shoulder.
"If I keep this up, I’m really going to turn into the Dream God."
Under the professor’s incredulous gaze, the winged White Serpent first blocked the bullet for Li Hao, then sent all the students in the multimedia classroom into an even deeper sleep.
The whole process flowed as smoothly as water, done in one perfect sequence, as if it had been rehearsed countless times.
