Chapter 997 - 226: Epilogue 20
Rong Rui looked at Rong Sinan leaving with his big eyes lowered, then slowly turned his little head and looked at Yige. His dark eyes suddenly filled with big, rolling tears when he saw Tang Yige, and he called to her with a choking little voice, "Little Gege."
Tang Yige seemed to have been sharply awakened by a blow to the back of her head; she suddenly came to her senses, tears spilling from her eyes as she stumbled out of bed and rushed to Little Rui’s bedside, crouching beside it, carefully cradling one of his little hands and pressing it to her face.
Rong Rui pouted his little lips, "Kiss."
Tang Yige immediately straightened up and leaned over to kiss his little face, his eyebrows, and the tip of his nose.
"Uh-oh. Little Gege, I thought I’d never see you again."
Rong Rui, with tears in his eyes, looked at Tang Yige, who was at a loss for words.
Tang Yige tightly pressed her pale lips together, holding Little Rui’s chubby little hand and continuously kissing the back of his hand.
Thank you, old man! Thank you, old man, for returning her Little Rui to her, thank you!
"Little Gege, why aren’t you speaking?"
With little grievance, Rong Rui stared at Tang Yige.
Tang Yige shook her head, her face moving closer until her forehead was pressing against his, large, teardrops rolling onto Rong Rui’s face, "Little, Little Rui, Mommy, Mommy loves you..."
These words were extremely difficult for Tang Yige to utter.
"I love you too, Mommy."
Rong Rui withdrew his little hand, softly wiping Tang Yige’s tears, sniffing hard, and said in his choked little voice, "I won’t cry. I’m a big boy."
Tang Yige gently held Little Rui’s face with her hands, her vision so blurred that she could barely see him.
"Little Gege, don’t cry anymore. I’m okay, I won’t sleep for such a long time again."
Rong Rui reached out, wiped his big eyes with the back of his hand, and then went on to wipe Tang Yige’s tears, saying.
"Little Rui..."
Tang Yige, at that moment, rather appeared like an insecure child, holding Rong Rui’s little hand to her lips and kissing it, her voice filled with watery sobs, "You know Mommy loves you very much, don’t you?"
Rong Rui had just woken up, his little face still pale, upon hearing Yige’s "confession," a touch of red crept onto his cheeks; a little shy, he pursed his little lips, "I’m so cute, how could anyone not love me?"
"Mommy really loves you, loves you so very much! In this world, no one can compare to you."
Tang Yige continued her "confession."
"...Oh, I know already." Rong Rui pursed his little lips, lifted his small chin slightly, and said.
"Mommy promises you, no one will ever harm you again in the future! Never!" Tang Yige’s voice was choked with emotion, yet her gaze at Rong Rui was exceptionally resolute.
"Mmm-hmm." Rong Rui lightly shrugged his small shoulders, casting a reserved yet joyful glance at Tang Yige from the corner of his eyes.
Seeing him like this, Tang Yige couldn’t help but laugh through her tears, kissing his hand repeatedly.
Rong Rui’s big eyes glistened with tears, watching Tang Yige giggling foolishly.
...
When Rong Sinan returned to the ward, Rong Rui was clutching one of Tang Yige’s fingers as he fell asleep again.
Tang Yige was crouched beside the bed, one hand resting on it, with her chin on her arm, staring at Rong Rui as he slept, her eyes unblinking.
Rong Sinan unconsciously lightened his steps, walked over, and gently lifted Tang Yige from behind, setting her down beside Little Rui’s bed.
Tang Yige paused, her gaze shifting from Rong Rui’s face to Rong Sinan, her slightly reddened eyes embourdoned with concern.
Rong Sinan pulled up a smile for her, "Don’t worry, the doctor didn’t say much, just reminded me of some precautions and arranged for Little Rui’s examination tomorrow."
Only then did Tang Yige slowly relax her tense heart.
With tenderness, Rong Sinan gazed at the sleeping Rong Rui, speaking softly to Tang Yige, "It’s still early, rest a bit more."
Tang Yige shook her head, "I can’t sleep now. Have you not slept all this time?"
"Mm."
Tang Yige pressed her lips together, "You should go take a rest then."
Rong Sinan slowly looked at Tang Yige, his tone gentle, "I can’t sleep."
Tang Yige paused, staring at Rong Sinan.
Rong Sinan squinted slightly, pulled over a chair, and sat in front of Tang Yige’s legs.
After glancing at her hand resting on the legs, Rong Sinan’s dark lashes momentarily lowered, finally unable to resist reaching out to hold Tang Yige’s hand.
Tang Yige froze, quickly attempting to withdraw her hand.
Rong Sinan tightly furrowed his brow, for the first time in half a month displaying firmness towards Tang Yige.
As she tried to pull her hand away, he gripped it firmly.
After several unsuccessful attempts to free herself, Tang Yige couldn’t help feeling dejected and somewhat annoyed, gazing at Rong Sinan in frustration.
Rong Sinan didn’t look at her, only lowered his eyes, staring at the hand of Tang Yige he forcefully held in his palm, "Since neither of us can sleep, perhaps we could talk for a while."
Tang Yige’s eyes twitched toward him in disbelief.
Rong Sinan inhaled slightly, his tone light yet steady, "We haven’t had a good talk for over half a month."
Tang Yige’s eyes briskly flickered.
"Yiyi."
Rong Sinan called her, these two words entering Tang Yige’s ears weighed with inexplicable heaviness.
Tang Yige looked at him.
"I know you blame me and resent me! If it weren’t for me, my mother wouldn’t have easily listened to those who harbor ill intentions, misunderstanding you and Little Rui. She wouldn’t have rashly brought people to the apartment, causing such harm to you, Little Rui, and Aunt Zhang."
Rong Sinan’s voice was shallow and slow, saying.
Tang Yige couldn’t help curling the fingers of the hand held by Little Rui.
"As a man, I failed to protect you and Little Rui, that’s my negligence. I won’t defend myself, because this is my mistake. But I hope you can give me a chance to redeem myself. One last chance...an opportunity for atonement!"
By the end, Rong Sinan’s voice had gone hoarse.
Tang Yige’s eyes warmed at the corners, watching Rong Sinan, who never raised his gaze when speaking to her, her voice equally hoarse, "What do you mean by ’one last time’?"
After she asked, Tang Yige noticed Rong Sinan’s hand holding hers suddenly tightened.
Tang Yige’s long lashes trembled fiercely, staring at Rong Sinan, "I asked you, what do you mean?"
Rong Sinan moved his Adam’s apple with difficulty, raised his moist red eyes, looking steadfastly at Tang Yige, "If such a thing happens again, never give me a chance again! Because a man like me isn’t worthy of your trust or commitment! And I will also keep away from your life!"
"... You’re such a bastard!"
Tang Yige laughed, but crystal-clear mist swirled around her eyes.
Rong Sinan pinched Tang Yige’s hand, his handsome face taut until it turned pale.
"What gives you the right to make such a decision? Rong Sinan, I ask you, what gives you the right?"
Tang Yige’s eyes wrung with tears, staring at Rong Sinan, gritting out the question.
Rong Sinan looked at her.
"Rong Sinan, even if I once harbored resentment towards you in my heart, even if I once vented my anger on you because of your mother’s actions, I, Tang Yige, have never entertained the thought of separating from you.
You talk about being a man, but in my view, anyone who harbors such thoughts is no man! What kind of man abandons his wife and child and still speaks with such righteousness, acting all aggrieved, pretending it’s all for my good!
Rong Sinan, no matter how many years pass, you remain as indifferent to me as always!"
Finishing with tears, Tang Yige suddenly pulled her hand free from Rong Sinan’s grasp, turned her head, and coldly laughed, "No need to wait for next time. Let’s do it now. If you’re going to leave, leave early. It’ll be better for Little Rui and me to get used to a life without you! Thank you!"
"Yiyi."
Rong Sinan, helpless, rose from the chair and sat behind Tang Yige, hugging her shoulders from behind despite her resistance, his chin resting on her shoulder, murmuring in her ear, "You know I said that not to leave, but as a resolve!"
Tang Yige struggled to break free, her lashes all wet, choking on her words, "I don’t care about your resolve or lack thereof. You clearly have that thought in mind."
Rong Sinan’s arms moved from her collarbone downward, directly wrapping around Tang Yige’s chest.
"...Rong Sinan!"
Tang Yige clutched her chest, both embarrassed and angry, turning to glare at him.
Rong Sinan’s expression was severe, "If this can calm you down."
"..."
Calm my ass!
Tang Yige’s eyebrows were about to ignite, she could only grit her teeth and say, "I’m already calm, let go!"
Rong Sinan stared at her, seriously replying slowly, "I think you’re still not calm enough!"
"Rong Sinan, uh..."
Tang Yige bristled, glared at him, shouted, but before her lips could move, his lips suddenly covered hers.
Tang Yige’s breath seemed to have been completely stolen by him, she was stunned, her eyes widened in shock.
