Chapter 2395 - 2396: Dilemma
Chapter 2395 - 2396: Dilemma
The quality of the souvenirs exceeded Feng Yuan’s expectations, leaving him in a dilemma of choice. After all, he couldn’t buy all these souvenirs; it wouldn’t be realistic.
But all these souvenirs looked quite nice, and no matter which one he chose, it felt a bit regrettable not to buy the others.
"It’s really making me dizzy with choices."
Sighing, Feng Yuan shook his head and said, as Qi Chen looked around the souvenirs and said
"These are all pretty good. Honestly, even I don’t know which one to buy."
Although Qi Chen wasn’t particularly attached to souvenirs, these items still gave him the idea of buying one to take back. However, exactly because of this thought, he realized it was quite difficult to pick one that he was particularly satisfied with.
"They all seem to be on the same level, each having their own unique features. Ah Chen, I think you should choose a custom ornament; that kind of thing suits you better."
Dou Yanlan said as she looked at Feng Yuan, who bought the most ornaments. How he would choose this time, Dou Yanlan wasn’t sure. The reason she advised Qi Chen to look at ornaments was simply because custom ornaments suited Qi Chen better.
As for other pendants or even special amulets, they weren’t suitable for Qi Chen, because those items could only be worn by non-combat Spirit Beasts.
The reason why Feng Yuan rarely bought pendants for Xiao Ji was exactly this. Xiao Ji often engaged in battles, so he couldn’t regularly let Xiao Ji wear such things and then take them off whenever Xiao Ji was preparing for a fight.
It was too troublesome, and Feng Yuan was often dragged into battles suddenly, so sometimes there wasn’t enough time to do so.
Although Qi Chen was not often abruptly pulled into battles like Feng Yuan, in terms of the number of battles, he might not participate any less than Feng Yuan. That’s why Dou Yanlan didn’t suggest he buy those types of decorative items worn on Spirit Beasts; otherwise, it would be a pity if they got damaged in a battle.
As for buying them not to hang? With so many options available, doing so was meaningless in Dou Yanlan’s view. For pure collection, there were many more suitable items.
"Take your time choosing; perhaps you might end up liking a pendant after all."
Surveying the souvenirs in the showcase, Feng Yuan said as he patted Xiao Ji’s head and led it into the store. Despite having difficulty in choosing, he still had to buy something. It would feel like a loss to leave without buying even one of the many nice souvenirs.
The items in the souvenir shop dazzled Feng Yuan and the others. The variety of souvenirs showcased what depth really meant. At least in Maomu City, Feng Yuan couldn’t find another scenic spot that offered such a rich variety of souvenirs characterized by both quantity and quality.
"It’s so hard to choose."
After walking around, Feng Yuan couldn’t make up his mind at all. There were simply too many choices, and he found it difficult to decide.
Even Xiao Ji didn’t know which one to choose. No matter how it looked, they all seemed good, but Xiao Ji knew very well that he could only choose one. Otherwise, what would they do when Feng Yuan took it to another place to buy souvenirs again?
"Choosing a souvenir that catches your eye is so difficult. Why is there nothing that I can decide on at a glance?"
Sighing, Feng Yuan said somewhat regretfully. The quality of the souvenirs here was superb, and precisely because of this, he couldn’t make a decision.
"In that case, if you find it difficult to choose, why not try divination?"
"Hmm?"
Hearing what sounded like someone talking to him, Feng Yuan, who was currently complaining, turned around and saw a young girl with narrowed eyes and a smile, hands clasped behind her back.
"Divination? That thing doesn’t seem very useful."
Looking at the girl, Feng Yuan said hesitantly. Divination was about obtaining answers based on future possibilities. However, what’s the use of that? Future choices aren’t necessarily right. Moreover, to Feng Yuan, his future was the most unpredictable.
"It’s not an ordinary divination. Hmm... Xiao Qian, come, do a little demonstration."
The girl called to the Spirit Beast behind her, and a pink fluffy Tuanzi wearing a purple witch’s hat wobbled over on its two oval feet, waving its tiny hands.
"Oh? Witch Baby?"
Seeing this Spirit Beast, which looked like a cute doll, Feng Yuan was momentarily startled. Witch Baby was a Mystic Series Spirit Beast, one of the rare special types. Although its attribute was Mystic Series, its unique Ultimate Move system made its specific attributes hard to define.
Witch Baby is a special spell Spirit Beast, which is somewhat categorized alongside Drudgeon. Not in terms of familial connection, but more in terms of large category classification.
In regular circumstances, the Ultimate Moves a Spirit Beast can master are fixed. Although they can be learned through various methods, under normal circumstances, the Ultimate Move Pool doesn’t change much.
However, spell Spirit Beasts are different. They possess special chant-based Ultimate Moves, and through these chants, they can use Magic.
Indeed, in definition and practice, Ultimate Moves of Spirit Beasts and Magic are completely different entities.
All boosts effective for Ultimate Moves have no effect on Magic, and similarly, restrictions on Ultimate Moves have no effect on Magic.
However, since using Magic for spell Spirit Beasts requires specific Ultimate Moves, it’s not entirely invulnerable to countermeasures.
The uniqueness of spell Spirit Beasts gives them a rather awkward status; Magic cannot benefit from bonuses targeting Ultimate Moves, like the Crystal Domain, which doesn’t affect Magic.
Aside from unique beings like Drudgeon, most other spell Spirit Beasts have rather mediocre base attributes, missing a large chunk of support effects. Their actual combat abilities aren’t particularly strong.
And given how rare spell Spirit Beasts are, not many Beast Tamers actually choose them.
As for what this Witch Baby was going to do, Feng Yuan thought of a special type of Magic. Using its Chenglong, it could form a guide through the power of rules.
Although there are many restrictions, it seemed feasible for selecting a desired gift.
Thinking this, Feng Yuan looked at the girl and said,
"Hmm, in that case, let’s give it a try."
"Xiao Qian, it’s up to you now~"
Nodding, the girl encouraged the Witch Baby. The little creature cautiously glanced at Feng Yuan with its tiny hand gripping, starting to chant a spell.
Another disadvantage of spell Spirit Beasts lies here; aside from its unique abilities, almost all Magic usage requires chants. Compared to Ultimate Moves that can be used immediately, this is obviously a point of vulnerability.
After all, while you’re chanting the spell, the opponent’s Ultimate Move might have already launched.
Of course, some spells can be cast instantly, and creatures like Drudgeon can even ignore the chanting and cast Magic instantly.
Witch Baby naturally doesn’t have the ability of instant Magic, so it has to chant to use Magic.
Seeing a purple light orb appear in front of him, Feng Yuan was somewhat amazed as he watched the orb bobbing and floating towards its target.
Qi Chen and the others followed Feng Yuan curiously, wanting to see what the Witch Baby was guiding Feng Yuan to find.
Following the orb, everyone walked into an ordinary shop, watching where the orb descended, Feng Yuan stroked his chin.
It was a special charm set. Due to some unique materials used, it could be automatically stored into the Spirit Beast Space during a battle. In some sense, it was a pretty decent item.
But, Feng Yuan felt that buying a charm for Xiao Ji seemed somewhat meaningless since its eagle-like form is there. Apart from pendants and necklaces, Xiao Ji couldn’t really wear other things.
He couldn’t hang something on its claws, could he? That would be too strange.
"This thing... I can only say it’s okay."
Looking at the charm, Feng Yuan wasn’t quite sure as he spoke. This item was barely suitable for Xiao Ji. As for the Fluffy Fire Wolfhound?
That’s a different story; Fluffy Fire Wolfhound truly isn’t suitable for charms because it could catch fire at any time, something the charm couldn’t detect.
"Is it unsuitable?"
The girl asked in surprise when she saw Feng Yuan frown. Nodding, Feng Yuan replied,
"Pretty much, this item doesn’t hold much significance for me. Looks like relying on Magic didn’t work out either."
With a smile and a shake of his head, Feng Yuan wasn’t overly disappointed, since choosing a souvenir is always very subjective, to the point that even Feng Yuan himself wasn’t sure what he wanted.
After searching around, he felt they were all good; unfortunately, he couldn’t buy them all—not to mention the lack of space to store them all.
"I see, this won’t do; we must try once more!"
The girl was evidently dissatisfied with the outcome, and she gazed at Feng Yuan in earnest as she said this. Rolling his eyes, Feng Yuan was disinclined to argue further. Trying again might yield the same result, yet seeing how passionate she was, Feng Yuan didn’t refuse. He didn’t know what to purchase anyway, so why not give it another shot?
