Chapter 1779 - 56: Plague Temple (Part 2)
The people of the Rothschild family kept following closely behind Zhang Xiaoman as they headed deeper into the Relics. To them, this Lan Family Honorary Elder who knew all the secrets had to be kept here.
Alman gritted his teeth as he stared at the constantly Flashing figure up ahead, filled with hatred yet also deeply shocked.
The man in front was simply too fast. Every time they were just about to catch up, he would suddenly accelerate and vanish, then, as if deliberately toying with them, he would wait in place on purpose and repeat the same process once they closed in again.
This made Alman feel it was somewhat unreal. Clearly, the speed of his own family was reputed to be number one in the Dark Star Alliance; how could they be toyed with like this today?
Even now, he still did not suspect that Zhang Xiaoman was using a Teleportation Ability, because everyone knew that in such a special small space, all Space Transmission abilities would be restricted. Even an Extraordinary Level expert wouldn’t be able to use them, unless their strength surpassed that of the Plague God who had opened up the Plague Relics in the first place; otherwise, they could only obediently abide by the Law here.
So was this Ji Xing’s strength even greater than the Plague God’s? That was obviously impossible.
One had to know the Plague God was no ordinary Extraordinary Level, but a ruthless figure whose strength was about to reach Middle-level Transcendent. If Ji Xing really surpassed him, then he wouldn’t be able to enter this space at all. The space would collapse the instant he stepped in, and there was no way he’d be chased around by them like this.
However, compared to the people of the Rothschild family, Zhang Xiaoman’s mood at this moment was anything but calm. He was utterly shocked by the speed of these Red Robed Men.
Right now he had already pushed his own speed to the limit, and was also using the previously set Star Alliance Markers to Teleport. Only like this could he keep pulling and kiting these guys back and forth. If not for the Unlimited Teleportation provided by the North Star Ring, he would have been caught by Alman and the others long ago.
Fortunately, as everyone ventured deeper toward the center of the Plague Relics, the environment around them grew increasingly harsh, and the massive spread of toxic miasma forced the Red Robed Men behind to unconsciously slow down as well.
To lure these people into continuing the chase, Zhang Xiaoman went full drama king, putting on an act of being almost out of Physical Strength and on the verge of stopping at any time, keeping them dangling behind him as he guided them toward the mysterious palace.
Alman was in utter turmoil now. Just as Zhang Xiaoman had expected, at this point he was riding a tiger and couldn’t get off.
The surrounding environment placed tremendous pressure on him, and most importantly, the poisonous mist was constantly corroding his Spiritual Power. Luckily, the Cultivation Method of their family was rather special and could generate a unique blood light to block the damage from the poison; otherwise, anyone else would probably already be dead.
Even so, in the end Alman had no choice but to temporarily fall back to the main group at the rear, summon the Stellar Treasure Mirror he had just obtained, and use the Treasure Mirror in concert with the Formation to lead everyone further through this Relics.
Still, this trip wasn’t without gains. Alman was surprised to discover that this Stellar Treasure Mirror could actually isolate the vast majority of the environmental pressure. That way, they only needed to focus on resisting the poisonous fog, saving him most of his energy. Truly worthy of being a Secret Treasure of the Lan Family.
Time passed in this game of chase for several hours. Just when the people of the Rothschild family could no longer hold on and were planning to give up, a sudden disturbance came from ahead.
"What’s going on? Is that a spiritual tide? Wait! What is that!?"
Someone couldn’t help but cry out. The poisonous mist in front of them was blown away by the suddenly erupting spiritual tide, and immediately an endless swamp unfolded before their eyes. At one end of the swamp, they could vaguely see a massive, ancient palace.
"Th-that place, could it be..."
An elder of the Rothschild family couldn’t help exclaiming, his eyes full of disbelief as he stared ahead.
Alman’s face was also filled with excitement. By now he had practically forgotten about the fleeing Honorary Elder. What lay before him had completely seized his attention—this was the most valuable place within the legendary Plague Relics!
"The Plague Temple! It’s the Plague Temple! We’ve found the Plague Temple! Hahahaha!"
An elder couldn’t help but throw his head back and laugh. From his excited expression, one could tell just how valuable this sight was to them.
Zhang Xiaoman was currently concealed to the side, watching this group rejoice, secretly amused.
The happier they laughed now, the harder they’d likely cry in a moment.
Was the Plague Temple really that easy to get into? The Plague Guards there were no pushovers. He had been running over here almost every day for the past month, trying to break through the Plague Guards’ defenses and enter the Temple, but each time he could only rely on the Little Golden Man to charge halfway at best. Going any deeper was impossible.
So why had he gone through such great pains to lure this group from the Rothschild family over here? Wasn’t it precisely to have them clash head-on with those Plague Guards, so he could pull off a neat case of killing with a borrowed knife, sit back and reap the fisherman’s profit amidst the chaos, and at the very least greatly increase his chances of sneaking into the Temple?
