Chapter 371 - 157: Entering the Netherworld, Confronting Wang Tianxing
In the vast woods, a gentle breeze rustled the leaves, creating a soft, whispering sound.
Warm sunlight filtered through the canopy, casting dappled shadows on the ground. Before them lay a picturesque scene, tranquil and pleasing to the eye.
Amidst this picturesque scene, Wang Tianxing stood with his hands clasped behind his back, staring coldly at Li Yun.
"Give me your life."
At Wang Tianxing’s words, a chill shot through Li Yun, as if he’d been plunged into an ice cellar.
Though the surrounding scenery was pleasant, the sky warm, and the dappled shadows lulling, Li Yun had no time to appreciate any of it.
With barely a moment’s hesitation, he spun around and bolted, using every ounce of strength he had to escape.
He wanted his life.
Those four simple words made Li Yun understand the situation perfectly, sending a chill through his body as if he’d been plunged back into the ice cellar.
He was furious with Wang Tianxing and found his character despicable, but he had to admit one simple fact: he was no match for him.
He was no match, and the other man wanted his life. Li Yun felt that his only option was to flee.
But before he could take more than a few steps, Wang Tianxing’s voice rang out behind him again.
"I want your life, so I won’t be letting you escape. Why bother with a useless struggle?"
Wang Tianxing’s voice was calm, which only made it more terrifying.
Li Yun suddenly felt a searing pain erupt throughout his body, so deep it felt like it was in his bones.
It started on the surface of his skin and seeped inward. In an instant, the pain was so overwhelming that his mind went blank. He collapsed to the ground, curling up and trembling helplessly.
"What... what did you do to me?"
Li Yun raised his head, the agony in his eyes growing as the tremors wracking his body intensified.
Wang Tianxing slowly strolled over to Li Yun and squatted down, placing a hand on his chest. "Just a little bit of Bone-Drilling Poison," he said.
"Bone-Drilling Poison... You’re ruthless." Li Yun curled into a tighter ball, trying to ward off the pain.
Once poisoned with Bone-Drilling Poison, the victim would feel the constant agony of a blade piercing their heart. But that wasn’t all; their bones would also melt and corrode in a short time.
The agony of that melting and corrosion would suffuse their entire body.
Wang Tianxing chuckled. "You said it yourself—I’m a madman. And if I’m a madman, you should have been more careful around me. But you weren’t. What’s happening to you now is all your own doing."
"Why!" Li Yun struggled, but his body was so wracked with pain that he didn’t have a shred of strength left.
He shouted at Wang Tianxing, "I did everything I could to help you! Why are you killing me? Is it because of what you said before, about the Netherworld?"
"If you need blood and lives, you could have just told me! I would have found them for you! Just don’t hurt me."
At this point, Li Yun’s voice took on a pleading tone as he tried to bargain with Wang Tianxing.
No one wanted to die. Even the madmen of Xinhua Academy valued their own lives, perhaps even more so than ordinary people.
Madmen weren’t fools, and Li Yun’s will to survive was now at its peak.
Wang Tianxing shook his head and said mockingly, "I’m the type to hold a grudge over the smallest offense. If you’d been a bit more respectful during our conversations, I might have let you live. But you weren’t. So to me, your life is as worthless as dirt."
Hearing this, the despair in Li Yun’s eyes deepened. "I want to at least die knowing why. What is it you’re trying to do? Can you tell me before I die? Don’t let me go without understanding a thing."
Wang Tianxing smiled. "Since you’re so eager to know, I suppose there’s no harm in telling you."
He pressed the hand on Li Yun’s chest a little harder. Li Yun’s face immediately turned a ghastly pale, and he coughed up several mouthfuls of blood.
Only then did Wang Tianxing begin to speak. "The first aberration... it looked like a test of Shen Bai’s strength, but it was actually to complete the most important prerequisite for opening the Netherworld."
"Shen Bai killed that aberration, but what he’d never guess is that I captured and sealed that very aberration myself after accidentally stumbling into the Netherworld."
"Of course, on the surface, it looked like an aberration born from a Deceitful Object. In reality, that was just a smokescreen. Not even the higher-ups at the academy can turn a Deceitful Object into an aberration, let alone someone like me."
"With the death of that first aberration, a link was forged between him and the Netherworld."
At this, a smug look appeared on Wang Tianxing’s face.
"Shen Bai also couldn’t have predicted my misdirection. For the second trial... well, first off, that hair-like aberration was also from the Netherworld. One link isn’t enough, so I had it put inside the Third Prince."
"As for why I put it in the Third Prince? I just thought it would be fun to kill a prince on the side. For the thrill of it."
"Unfortunately, Shen Bai still managed to foil that plan."
Wang Tianxing shook his head as he spoke, but the excited gleam on his face only grew more intense.
His interest in Shen Bai was growing.
Li Yun stared at Wang Tianxing’s crazed expression and gritted his teeth. "And then what? What about my agent? What role did he play in all of this?"
Annoyed at the interruption, Wang Tianxing pressed his hand down harder.
The action made Li Yun tremble violently from the pain. Despair filling him, he stared fearfully at Wang Tianxing.
Only then did Wang Tianxing continue, "The resentful energy in the Incense Bag... I collected that from the two aberrations. Then, using the Incense Bag to hide it, that resentful energy would surround Shen Bai. Once the Netherworld opens, Shen Bai will be instantly sucked inside."
