Chapter 459 - 372: It’s Me (Part 2)
Her joyful eyes kept darting toward Wu Yue, wishing she could use her witch power to toss the clever young female into the sky that very instant.
"Alright, since we’ve settled matters, we’ll give you the Crystal Cores when you leave the Polar Forest."
The Snow Tiger Witch was thrilled. ’You shameless Red Flame Plain Tribe, I bet you didn’t expect to run into someone even more shameless than yourselves this time.’
The even-more-shameless Wu Yue: "..."
’Are you complimenting me, or are you complimenting me?’
The witches rose, preparing to leave. But just then, the Scorpion Beastman Warrior, who had been staring at Wu Yue with an infatuated expression, suddenly stood up. "Before the Great Rainy Season, several of our tribe’s Beastman Warriors got lost and ended up in the Polar Forest. They still haven’t returned.
It wasn’t until recently that one of our tribesmen reported they were rescued by the Snow Tiger Tribe. We of the Scorpion Tribe are very grateful. I was wondering where they are now. We’d like to have them leave with us when we depart.
Of course, we will leave some of our tribe’s goods behind as a token of our gratitude."
The Snow Tiger Witch nodded. "I do believe something like that happened."
She then turned to Wu Yue. "Where are those Scorpion Beastman Warriors?"
Wu Yue suddenly turned to the Scorpion Beastman Warrior, her face a mask of admiration and emotion. "The Beastman Warriors of the Scorpion Tribe are truly powerful, courageous, and so very grateful!"
This torrent of praise went straight to the Scorpion Beastman’s head. He immediately puffed out his chest and lifted his chin. "Of course. The Beastman Warriors of the Scorpion Tribe are blessed by the Beast God himself."
Wu Yue chuckled inwardly, but the look of admiration on her face only deepened. "Ever since they arrived at our tribe, they’ve felt terribly embarrassed about living in our caves and eating the food we stored for the Great Rainy Season. That’s why they’re always helping out around the tribe."
The Scorpion Beastman frowned. "Helping out?"
Wu Yue nodded. "That’s right. They help us build houses and hunt. If there’s anything at all they can do, they rush to help. They said they’d feel too embarrassed if they didn’t do something to earn their keep after eating our tribe’s food for an entire rainy season."
At Wu Yue’s words, the Scorpion Beastman suddenly looked a little awkward and chuckled dryly. "Well, that’s... that’s great of them. Haha... haha..."
Seeing his reaction, Wu Yue turned to the Snow Tiger Witch. "Let’s have the Half-beastman Warriors go get those Scorpion Beastman Warriors. They must miss their own tribesmen a great deal."
The Snow Tiger Witch’s lips twitched as she pictured what those Scorpion Beastman Warriors looked like. She gave Wu Yue an unreadable look. "Are you sure you want to call them over now?"
’Maybe we should wait a few days?’
Wu Yue nodded with a beaming smile. "Mhm, let’s bring them over now. They’ve been so busy helping out, they probably don’t even know their tribesmen have arrived."
Seeing her confident expression, the Snow Tiger Witch didn’t argue. Besides, her Witch Disciple was a very clever girl.
With that, she waved a hand at the Half-beastman Warrior behind her. "Go get them."
Seeing the exchange between the two, everyone else grew curious about these Scorpion Beastmen. No longer in a hurry to leave, they all sat back down, waiting for these supposedly hardworking and grateful Beastman Warriors to arrive.
After a while, a series of footsteps echoed through the space. Everyone turned toward the sound, only to see the Beastman Warrior who had left earlier returning with a group of people in tow. Their clothes were even more tattered than those worn by slaves.
Their backs were hunched, and their bare upper bodies were so thin that every one of their ribs was visible.
Everyone stared at the newcomers with contempt. They couldn’t imagine what the Snow Tiger Witch was thinking, bringing a group of lowly slaves up here.
Only the witch from the Yan Yan Tribe, who was off to the side, noticed something was amiss. She frowned, her gaze fixed on the Beast Skin Skirts worn by the so-called "slaves."
’Are slaves allowed to wear Beast Skin Skirts?’
She looked up at the hair color of several of the men, and her eyes narrowed instantly. Though it was dry and frizzy, she could clearly see it was blue-black.
And as far as she knew, only members of the Scorpion Tribe had hair that color.
’So these people aren’t slaves at all—they’re the lost Beastman Warriors from the Scorpion Tribe!’
The Scorpion Beastman sitting beside her was also sizing up the group of "slaves" with a contemptuous gaze. But when his eyes fell on their hair, his look froze, and his expression stiffened.
"You’re..."
The moment he spoke, the filthy, emaciated "slaves" across from him instantly recognized his voice.
The "slave" at the very front let out a howl, scrambled toward him, and with a THUD, threw himself onto the Beastman’s leg and began to wail. It was a truly heart-wrenching sound.
