Chapter 1136: Reconstructed Family
Chapter 1136: Reconstructed Family
Accompanied by the child’s words, Janelle Tollman recalled what Wayne Archer had said to her during dinner.Rebuilding a family wasn’t just her own affair; it also concerned the future of the child.
And Noah was obviously not as easy to fool as before.
Thus, Janelle did not avoid the child’s question anymore. After laying down with the child, while tidying up the child’s blanket, she softly asked, "So who does Noah want as your new dad?"
Noah looked up at Janelle expectantly, "Can I choose myself?"
Janelle Tollman: "Tell me first."
Noah’s eyes rolled, and he said with a smile, "I want Uncle Archer and Uncle Sutton."
The hand lightly patting the child’s back paused, and Janelle slightly furrowed her brow.
Saying Uncle Archer, she could understand. After all, Wayne Archer had watched the child grow up, not as a father, yet managing to provide fatherly companionship.
But this Uncle Sutton, the child had interacted with him for no more than a month or two.
Apparently, the child was bribed by the toys and snacks Arthur Sutton sent; that man was certainly good at choosing people to approach.
"If you must choose between Uncle Archer and Uncle Sutton?"
Noah seemed to have considered this long ago and happily responded, "Then I choose Uncle Sutton, and brother can choose Uncle Archer, is that okay?"
Janelle Tollman felt amused: "You little girl are quite greedy; you can only pick one."
Noah: "Why? Brother and I can each pick one dad."
"You and your brother can only have one dad."
Although Noah looked confused, he began to struggle and hesitate, as if finding it difficult to choose between Wayne Archer and Arthur Sutton.
This surprised Janelle a bit; she thought the child would choose Uncle Archer without hesitation.
The child’s indecision also made Janelle’s already wavering heart even more uncertain.
Rebuilding a family is no small matter; she needs to consider it carefully.
"Ding dong—"
Just as Janelle Tollman was about to fall asleep, her phone suddenly rang.
She got up to check on the sleeping Noah, who was already in deep slumber.
Cautiously, she moved the child to the center of the bed. After covering him with the blanket, she quietly returned to her room with the phone in hand.
Standing at the doorway, she glanced at the sender, her expression instantly filling with concern.
The remark for the sender was "Mr. Sutton."
[Are you asleep? Sorry to disturb you so late.]
Janelle Tollman sighed, closed the door, and lay down on the bed. After staring at the message for a while, she replied: [Is there something you wanted to talk about?]
Arthur Sutton: [Do you have time tomorrow for a meal together? There are some things I’d like to discuss.]
Janelle Tollman was somewhat hesitant, unclear about Arthur Sutton’s true intentions and uncertain whether to continue contact with him.
That day when she asked if they had known each other before, his ambiguous answer was intriguing.
Ultimately, Janelle couldn’t resist her curiosity, yet remained slightly guarded: [What is it about? Can it be discussed over the phone?]
Arthur Sutton: [Is it convenient for you to take a call now?]
Sitting by the bed, Janelle paused for a moment before replying with a simple "Hmm."
Even though she was prepared, when Arthur Sutton’s calling page popped up, Janelle found herself nervously adjusting her breath several times before finally answering: "...Hello."
Arthur Sutton: "There’s no need to be so formal. Hope I didn’t disturb your sleep too much?"
Janelle Tollman: "Not at all. Mr. Sutton, what is it you wanted to say to me?"
There was a two-second silence on the other end before Arthur Sutton’s voice sounded again: "I just feel that Miss Tollman seems to have some misunderstandings about me, so I wanted to clarify them with you."
