Chapter 1250: Heart-to-Heart Conversation
Chapter 1250: Heart-to-Heart Conversation
"By the way, did you know? Those three from City T, the ones we clashed with last time..." Nico Haynes turned his gaze toward Ariel Morris and suddenly realized, "Oh, right, I almost forgot that Jorge Saxton is Little Girl Morris’s big brother. Anyway, the youngest of the three from City T, Jose Floyd, is reportedly getting engaged soon. I heard this gossip a couple of days ago while drinking with a rich kid from City T."Nicole’s hand, which was picking up food, froze for a moment. Soon, she continued eating the hot pot as if nothing had happened, her expression indifferent as if it didn’t concern her.
As Nico finished speaking, Ariel Morris turned her gaze to Nicole. Seeing her calm demeanor, she felt a mix of complex emotions.
Arlo Seys also glanced at his sister but remained silent.
The restaurant suddenly fell into an eerie silence.
Only Nicole continued to eat her meal quietly and calmly, her face showing no signs of disturbance.
Unaware of the relationship between Nicole and Jose Floyd, Nico grabbed some hot pot vegetables and shoved them into his mouth, "Come on, why did you all stop? Next time, let’s invite Steven Cooper to join us for hot pot. After all, he’ll be part of the Seys Family soon. The sooner he gets to know us, the better. What do you think, Little Sister Seys?"
Nicole softly replied, "I’ll notify him to come next time."
Throughout the meal, only Nico kept mumbling, with Dawn Sutherland and Daisy Grant chiming in occasionally.
PM at night.
Dawn Sutherland and his family of three drove back, and Nico accompanied them. Ariel Morris and Aunt Forest carried the sleeping Iris Seys and Ryan Seys upstairs.
In the living room, Nicole poured two cups of cool tea to clear the heat, and she and Arlo sat on the sofa.
"Are you ready to marry Steven Cooper?" Arlo asked, looking at his sister seriously.
Nicole lowered her eyes, holding the tea, her fingertips slightly rigid, "Brother, could you be more tactful when asking questions? How am I supposed to answer that?"
Arlo leaned back on the sofa, his eyelids slightly lifted, emanating nobility, "Fine, let me rephrase. Nicole, with the wedding between the Seys and Cooper families, you still have the right to say no. Once engaged, the Seys Family will not tolerate calling it off. Have you thought it through?"
"...Brother, there’s no difference in the way you ask," Nicole smiled bitterly.
Arlo’s slender fingers rested on his knee, his indifferent eyes as finely sculpted as a painting, "I know you’ve been staying with him and Ryan these past few days, and I also know he saved you both. Nicole, can you truly forget that past? Do you really feel no lingering attachment to Jose Floyd besides hatred?"
"Brother, how did you know about these past few days, Ryan and I..." Nicole’s gaze lowered, her lips pressed together, her voice low.
"Your brother’s intelligence doesn’t require your doubt," Arlo said calmly.
"..."
Yet having such a smart brother isn’t necessarily good; it leaves her nowhere to hide!
Nicole’s silence made Arlo’s expression turn deeper, as he looked at his sister, "If you wish to break off this engagement now, I can help you. You don’t need to bear family pressure. But Nicole, if you choose to engage with Steven Cooper, no matter how much you want to go back after marriage, I will be the first to oppose your divorce."
"Marriage isn’t a child’s play, and you’re not a child. You must understand the path you choose; even if you have to crawl, you must complete it! Unless you and he mutually agree to divorce, the Seys Family won’t permit you to leave Steven Cooper unilaterally."
"Since no one’s here, I might as well have an honest talk with you about our private sibling matters..."
